The aim of the ABO 2011 special session is to bring together researchers working on methods and applications concerned with designing and using the multi-agent systems with a view to obtain solutions to optimization problems as well as to discuss these issues and to present current research results. Topics of submitted papers should focus on solutions where the multi-agent paradigm is used to enhance or replace traditional approaches to solving difficult optimization problems.
The papers will be reviewed by KES AMSTA International Program Committee. The best submissions will be selected for presentation and will be included in the symposium proceedings. The papers should present original and unpublished research. The symposium proceedings are planned to be published and distributed by Springer-Verlag in series LNCS/LNAI. Submitted papers for ABO should be prepared in LNCS/LNAI style and should be limited to 10 pages. All submissions must be sent electronically using the PROSE software review system.
Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in the edited book entitled "Agent-Based Optimization" that will be published by Springer in Studies in Computational Intelligence.
