GMU Academic Choir Marks 20th Anniversary

Gdynia Maritime University Academic Choir celebrated its 20th anniversary on Sunday, 12th December.

In honour of 20 years of the University Choir’s activity, this year’s anniversary was celebrated in exceptional fashion with a concert held in the University’s Tadeusz Meissner hall. The concert was attended by HM Rector Professor Adam Weintrit, who congratulated the conductor Karol Hilla and expressed the University’s gratitude for the Choir’s work over the past 20 years.

The concert also included a photo presentation of the Choir’s activity during this time, including concerts and festivals in Poland and abroad.

Gdynia Maritime University Academic Choir is the very first academic choir in Gdynia. Established in the autumn of 2001, it has brought together students, graduates, staff, and University supporters ever since.

The group performs a diverse repertoire that includes pieces from all periods - from the middle ages to more contemporary arrangements; from smaller a’cappella works to grand vocal and instrument compositions. The Choir regularly graces cultural events, scientific conferences, and church and academic ceremonies, both at home and in other countries, such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Lithuania.
