GMU honored with the Special Award

Rector of GMU, prof. Adam Weintrit on May 28, 2021 - received the Special Award of Capt. Leszek Wiktorowicz, awarded to the Gdynia Maritime University for one hundred years of watching over the maritime education of Polish society.

The Special Award - one of the most important sailing awards in Poland - is a medal. The award was established in 2011 to honor exceptional sailing achievements, achievements in the field of maritime education or shaping maritime awareness.

This year, the Chapter of the Award of Capt. Leszek Wiktorowicz, which includes representatives of the initiators of the award - the captain's family, the City of Gdynia, the Kaphornite Brotherhood and the Press Club Poland - honored for the second time Gdynia Maritime University. The laudation was delivered by the President of the Gdynia City Council, Joanna Zielińska, who said that the names of the University have changed over the last 100 years, but the people who continue to educate young people have not changed.
