Pomeranian Higher Education Institutions Sign Agreement During 12th Maritime Convention
Gdynia Maritime University Rector Adam Weintrit took part in the 12th Maritime Convention on Tuesday 22nd October at the Gdansk University of Technology. During the event, the Rectors of eight higher education establishments from the Pomeranian region signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of offshore wind energy in Poland.
The agreement results from several months of talks between representatives of the Universities and Academies that comprise the group. The most recent talks were held at the Koszalin University of Technology in November, where the potential areas of cooperation, as well as the final format and framework of the agreement, were discussed. The signatories of the agreement are: Dr Danuta Zawadzka - Rector of the Koszalin University of Technology, Professor Adam Weintrit - Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Krzysztof Wilde - Rector of Gdansk University of Technology, Piotr Stepnowski - Rector of Gdansk University, Rear Admiral Professor Tomasz Szubrycht - Rector of Gdynia Maritime Academy, Dr Wojciech Ślączka - Rector of Szczecin Maritime Academy, Professor Waldemar Tarczyński - Rector of Szczecin University, and Dr Jacek Wróbel - Rector of the West Pomerania University of Technology in Szczecin.
The agenda for the 12th Maritime Convention included a speech by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the awarding of Independence Medals, as well as presentations by Professor Mark Dzida on the “Role of Polish shipbuilders in the Polish and world maritime industry within a historical perspective”, and Krzysztof Wilde on “Research and implementation work conducted by Pomeranian higher education institutions for the Polish maritime industry”.
