Gdynia Maritime University is located in the modern city of Gdynia on Poland’s Baltic coast. Gdynia, along with Gdańsk and Sopot, is one of three cities that make up the Tricity – a dynamic economic and academic hub, home to international companies, two active seaports, and a population of around 760,000.

How to get here
The nearest airport to GMU is the Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport from where its only a 30 minute drive to the University's main campus and 35 minutes to the Faculty of Navigation. The centre of Gdynia and the University are easily accessible by public transport - trains from outside the terminal commute to main train station and the centre of Gdynia in around 45 minutes.

Warsaw Chopin Airport receives arrivals from Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia. Warsaw Modlin airport also has connections with several European cities with low-cost airlines. Travel onward to Gdynia from the capital and other airports around Poland is convenient thanks to express Intercity trains. Gdynia is also reachable by train from some major European cities in Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, and Lithuania.

GMUs main campus is on several bus routes that pass through the city centre and can be reached easily from behind the main train station (Morska Street) on routes 22/25/28/34.

Where to stay
There are many accommodation options for visitors to Gdynia, from hotels to private apartments, and budget-friendly hostels. Visitors to the Faculty of Navigation and those wanting to get to know the city and sites, including the beach, promenade, and sea-front (including the mooring place of the University's flagship the Dar Młodzieży and the marina) will find the University's hostel (rooms rented are in the same building as one of its student residences) highly convenient and good value for money. The hostel is also just a short bus ride from the main campus.
