Gdynia Maritime University educates merchant fleet officers, engineers and managers for roles within the maritime economy and the coastal region at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree levels. GMU offers full-time and part-time studies, postgraduate diplomas, and an MBA programme, supplementary education for officers and maritime industry specialists, as well as certification and specialist courses. The University’s wide range of study programmes is designed to meet the needs of the national and international labour markets. 

Marine and Land-based Specialisations
The University’s uniqueness and competitiveness are reflected in its specialisations in both maritime and land-based fields. - The University educates merchant fleet officers in accordance with the STCW Convention, and engineers and managers for roles within the maritime economy and the coastal region at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree levels. 

Faculties and Fields of Study
GMU has five faculties. Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Navigation, Management and Quality Science, and the recently opened (2024) Faculty of Computer Science. The University’s structure also encompasses the Maritime Institute. The University continues to develop and expand its research, academic, and teaching activities, and currently offers 11 fields of academic study: Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Navigation, Transport, Management, Quality Science, Technical Systems Exploitation and Diagnostics, Offshore Wind Energy and Communication and Information Systems. University Fleet
Gdynia Maritime University is the owner of three ships: the world-renowned sailing ship Dar Młodzieży, the modern research and training ship Horyzont II, and the research ship IMOR – the first Polish vessel designed for coastal zone and lagoon waters.
