Faculty of Computer Science

The hope is that, in not too many years, human brains and computing machines will be coupled together very tightly, and that the resulting partnership will think as no human brain has ever thought and process data in a way not approached by the information-handling machines we know today.
Walter Isaacson

Study Computer Science at Gdynia Maritime University – where cutting-edge technology meets over a century of academic tradition.

We focus on practical skills: programming, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, data analytics, and systems engineering. Students work with modern tools and real-world technologies, gaining the expertise to succeed in virtually any industry after graduation.

Research and Development

The main areas of scientific research and development conducted at the Faculty of Computer Science include:

Machine Learning
Computational Intelligence
Autonomous Systems
Software Engineering
Systems Interoperability

Our Educational Focus

The Faculty of Computer Science is GMU's newest Faculty, established in 2024 to educate highly qualified specialists for the regional economy and the global maritime sector. Degree programmes are designed in response to the growing demand for expertise in areas such as the robotisation and automation of production, cloud technologies, data processing for business optimisation, mobility and autonomy in modern systems, and the application of artificial intelligence.

By combining academic excellence with a strong practical focus, the Faculty of Computer Science equips graduates with the skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital and maritime world.

Departments

The Faculty of Computer Science comprises five departments: Applied Informatics and Artificial Intelligence, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Fundamentals of Computer Science, and Autonomous Systems.

Conferences

The Faculty of Computer Science, as the successor to the Department of Information Systems, has for more than a decade been involved in the organisation of international events in computer science, artificial intelligence, intelligent applications and systems, control systems, and data processing. PP-RAI, INISTA, CYBKONF, KES, KES AMSTA, and ICCCI conferences are international scientific events organised by the staff at our Faculty.

Laboratories

Students at the Faculty of Computer Science take part in regular laboratory sessions
as a key part of their practical learning during their studies.
