Andrea Bocelli and the GMU Academic Choir to perform together at National Stadium

On August 19th 2022, the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw will host Andrea Bocelli's biggest concert this year. We are proud to announce that the world-famous tenor will be accompanied by the GMU Academic Choir.

And it's not the first time that the University choir will sing with the Italian maestro. The choir and Bocelli met for the first time in 2019 when they performed to a packed crowd at Sopot's Ergo Arena.

As quoted by Onet.pl, Marek Kurzawa of the Prestige MJM agency, the organiser of the concert at the PGE National Stadium, commented on the professionalism of the UMG Academic Choir, which will ensure the high expectations of the tenor will be met:

- The choice of a suitable choir for a concert of this type is extremely important. Andrea Bocelli's phenomenal voice must ring out to its fullest. The choir supports him and completes the magic of the sound. The maestro himself is very demanding in this regard, so we look forward to working with the Gdynia Maritime University Academic Choir, which is not only up to the task, but will no doubt put in an excellent performance.

The conductor of the choir, Dr Karol Hilla, is overjoyed with the group's involvement:

- The chance to perform alongside such an outstanding artist as Andrea Bocelli is a great honour. I'm extremely proud that we will be part of such an event. The chance to perform a concert for an audience of several thousand people is an exceptional experience, and to be invited to do it with a world-famous tenor testifies to the high level of ability of the choir and provides plenty of motivation for the future. The effect that you hear on stage is a combination of talent and a great number of hours spent together practising.

The GMU academic choir has been active since 2001 and has won many awards at home and abroad.

In addition to the concert at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw, Andrea Bocelli will also perform this year in Krakow and Gdansk. Events that our choir will also have the honour of being involved in!
