University Council Member, The Honorary Consul of Malta, Wins Consul Regattas
The fourth edition of the Consul Regattas took place on Sunday 30th September in Gdynia. The winners of this year's races were the crew of the Honorary Consul for Malta, Sławomir Kalicki, a member of the GMU University Council.
Also competing were the crews of four other honorary consuls for Bulgaria, Bangladesh, Lithuania and Moldova. The races took place on 2020 class yachts. The favourable weather meant that all races planned for the day went ahead.
First place on the podium went to the crew of the Honorary Consul for Malta, made up of Sławomir Kalicki (Honorary Consul for Malta in Gdynia), Jacek Tymiński (Honorary Consul for Moldova in Gdansk) and Wojciech Szymulewicz. The team was led to success by the head of the Polish Sailing Association, Tomasz Chamera.
Runners-up were the crew of the Honorary Consul of Lithuania, third place went to the crew of the Honorary Consul of Bangladesh and fourth place went to the crew of the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria.
The winners were presented with a voucher for a week-long excursion onboard the Pomeranian Sailing Association's legendary "Pogoria" sailing ship. The prize will be donated to a charity of their choosing.
The event was organised by the Gdynia Marina Yacht Park and the Pomeranian Sailing Association, with the participation of the Association of Honorary Consuls in Poland. The media partner was the website Żeglarski.info.
