The 13th Academic Centres of Technology Transfer Conference took place in Gdansk on 19th-21st April 2023

The newly formed GMU Technology Transfer Centre was represented by Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba - the Centre's director, Beata Wetoszka - Innovation Broker and Technology Transfer Specialist, and Anna Mazanek - Innovation Broker, and Independent Technology Transfer Administrator.

This year's conference was organised by The Polish Association of Centers for Technology Transfer (PACTT) in collaboration with the regional partners of Gdansk University of Technology Transfer Centre, Gdansk University of Medicine Technology Transfer Centre, and Gdansk University Technology Transfer Centre. The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Education and Science and sponsored by ESA BIC Poland, ESA Technology Broker Poland, OPTeam S.A. and Netrix Ventures.

The event attracted nearly 200 specialists who exchanged experiences and developed plans for the future activities of PACTT.

The conference focused on the transfer of knowledge and the protection of intellectual property, with many presentations on the consolidation of technology transfer centres, as well as the OECD and European Commission reports on intellectual property in Poland. Issues such as the appointment of a team for the commercialisation of good practices, as well as programs supporting the process of commercialisation in Polish research organisations, were also discussed. The conference also saw a summary of a report on the assessment of the transfer of knowledge and technology of Polish research units for 2021 and a discussion on deep-tech start-ups.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science summarised the implementation of the "Innovation Incubator 4.0" programme as well as the establishment of a new programme to support the transfer of technology, and the representatives of the Ministry of Regional Funds and Policy presented solutions for support in the new financial perspective dedicated to the implementation of R&D work and the commercialisation of research results.

The participation of the GMU Technology Transfer Centre in the 13th Academic Technology Transfer Centres Conference and joining PACTT has provided the opportunity to use the tools of the Association's platform and strengthen relations with other research units in the country. Moreover, it has paved the way for pro-innovation activities on a national scale and opinions on legal changes and strategic papers that will help to shape innovation policy within the country.
