Gdynia Maritime University and PGE cooperation
Gdynia Maritime University and PGE are starting cooperation for the development of offshore technology, in particular the development of offshore wind energy.
On May 18, 2021, the Gdynia Maritime University (GMU) and PGE signed a letter of intent on expert cooperation in the field of research and implementation. The goal is to develop offshore wind energy in Poland. Joint activities include a wide range of research and analyzes, exchange of experiences, as well as assistance in creating and equipping the Centre for the Offshore Industry.
As part of the cooperation, PGE will support the Gdynia Maritime University in creating a laboratory base for the GMU Centre for the Offshore Industry, which will be able to serve joint research for the development of the offshore sector in Poland. The planned Centre will be a facility for developing knowledge and skills necessary in the process of educating staff for the Polish maritime economy.
The joint activities of the PGE and the Gdynia Maritime University will also include the implementation of hydrological, hydrometeorological, hydrochemical and geomorphological analyzes, as well as research in the field of navigation, safety and rescue in maritime transport. GMU will provide PGE with substantive and research support in planning activities to minimize the impact on the natural environment in the construction of PGE's offshore wind farms. The cooperation will also include the exchange of experience of experts in the field of staff training for offshore wind farm operators and the extension and improvement of the GMU curriculum.
