General Consul of PRC visits GMU
The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, met with the General Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Gdansk, Fan Xiaodong, on Friday 9th June 2023. The occasion was the first visit of the General Consul to our University.
Also present at the meeting were Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, the Deputy Rector for Cooperation and Development, and Dr Sambor Guze, the Deputy Rector for Education.
During the meeting, talks were held on the cooperation of the consulate and Gdynia Maritime University in education and science. An important part of our cooperation may be the development of relations with Chinese maritime sector companies. Professor Weintrit stressed the role of the University’s long-standing cooperation with Shanghai University and the agreement signed in April this year with Dalian Maritime University.
The next step is the preparation of a plan by GMU representatives and the Consulate General of the PRC, including the exchange of students and academic staff, as well as the creation of joint teams involved in research projects and scientific activities.
