GMU Attends Conference for Technology Transfer Centres

The 14th National Agreement of Academic Technology Transfer Centres Conference took place in Torun on 11-13 October 2023.

The GMU Technology Transfer Office was represented by Dr Magadalena Kukowska-Kashuba - the director of the GMU Technology Transfer Office, and innovation broker  Anna Żuławska. This year's conference was organised by the PACTT Foundation in collaboration with the Centre for Academic Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Education and Science and supported by sponsors OPTeam, Polski Fundusz Rozwoju, AKCES NCBR and Grupa Azoty Puławy.

The econference brought together specialists from Technology Transfer Centres from all over Poland, allowing for the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices in the transfer of innovation from the world of scientific research to the commercial sphere.

Other participants were from various organisations such as academic research centres, industry, government institutions, and representatives of the innovation and entrepreneurship sector looking for promising projects and technologies to finance.

During the conference many presentations were given on the cooperation between science and local government in the field of remote care and medical care, the activities of the technology transfer centres in relation to the socio-economic environment and the best ways for communication between them, as well as projects as part of the European Fund for Modern Economy programme.                                                                                                  

The Ministry of Education and Science's representative summarised the implementation of the "Innovation Incubator 4.0" programme and outlined initial plans for a new programme supporting the transfer of technology at universities.

The last day of the conference was dedicated to a panel of patent agents and the activity report of the Coordination Council and the PACTT Foundation.

Participants had a chance to get to know each other better during a ceremonial dinner and time spent in picturesque Torun.

Attendance at the conference allowed GMU representatives to gain knowledge on effective technology transfer strategies and to gain inspiration from the case studies presented by other innovation brokers.
