HM The Rector of GMU Chairs First Sitting of IAMU International Executive Board
On 17th and 18th April 2023, a sitting of the International Executive Board of the IAMU took place at the headquarters of the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (Rauma) in Finland. The sitting was attended by the newly elected representatives of member universities representing each of the geographical regions of the world as well as the staff of the IAMU secretariat in Tokyo. Chairing the meeting for the first time since his election to the role for the current term was Rector Professor Adam Weintrit. Also taking part in the meeting from GMU were the Deputy Rector for Cooperation and Development, Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk and the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for IAMU Affairs, Professor Adam Przybyłowski.
During the meeting, participants discussed key aspects of the functioning of the Association, including issues concerning the acceptance of new members. The state of implementation of projects currently carried out by consortiums and research teams within the Association was also analysed. The IAMU members gave their final approval of the projects selected during the recent research projects competition and engaged in discussions on the challenges associated with tackling demographic decline. Details were also announced and discussed on the next sitting of the IEB, the Annual General Assembly (AGA) and the international conference scheduled to take place in October in Finland.
