Invitation to Attend "IAMU Simulator Exercise Database" Webinar

On Wednesday 22 November 2023, the IAMU Ad-hoc Working Group of Simulation Exercise Database will hold a webinar on one of the Association's current projects – the Simulator Exercise Database (SimEd).
The webinar will provide an opportunity to get information on the project and explore the advantages of membership for IAMU member universities.

What is SimED?

SimED is one of the IAMU projects which has the potential to bring benefits to global Maritime Education and Training Institutions. The purpose of the project is to develop and maintain quality-assured navigation, engineering, cargo handling, and other relevant simulator exercises that can be used in seafarer competence training.

How does SimEd work?

Initially, the five-member universities contribute simulator exercises which pass a rigorous quality assurance process. SimED shares and exchanges the quality-assured simulator exercises with IAMU member universities who wish to become members of the project.

What are the requirements for becoming a SimED member?

1. Member of the International Association of International Universities
2. To upload at least three exercises
3. To appoint at least three reviewers

What are the advantages of becoming a SimED member?

1. Access to a wide range of quality-assured simulator exercises that improve the quality of seafarer education and training
2. Sharing exercises saves time that is spent on making new exercises
3. Your university’s simulator exercises are quality-assured by a peer-reviewed process
4. Simulator instructors will have opportunities to widen their simulator training horizons by sharing their experience with other instructors through meetings and workshops
