Rector Attends Aviation Development Meeting at Boeing Polska

HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, at the invitation of Boeing Polska, has taken part in a meeting devoted to the development of the aviation industry held under the slogan ‘The Age of New Skills: Aviation in Pomerania’.

The meeting took place on 12th December at the headquarters of Boeing Polska in Gdansk and was attended by representatives of industry, higher education institutions, and local governments. Discussions focused on the recruitment and education of promising candidates for the aviation industry in Poland. Special attention was paid to the Pomerania region, in which many companies active in digital aviation are based.

Opening the meeting was Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Leszek Bonna. Gdynia Maritime University was represented by Rector Professor Adam Weintrit.

The event took place in the form of a roundtable discussion, allowing for the open exchange of views and experiences. Participants discussed various forms of cooperation, such as internship programmes, apprenticeships, research projects and the participation of industry representatives in higher education programme boards.

Cooperation between industry and higher education institutions plays a key role in adapting curricula to labour market requirements, which results in better-prepared candidates for professional roles in industry.
