University Delegation Attends IAMU Conference in Egypt
The International Association of Maritime Universities conference took place on 26th-29th October in Alexandria, Egypt. This year’s event, the 21st edition of the conference entitled “Innovation and Sustainability of Maritime Industry in the Scope of Blue Economy and Green Concept”, was organised in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
One of the sessions was co-hosted by HM Rector Adam Weintrit (online) and Associate Professor Dr Adam Przybyłowski. Also involved in the conference were Dr Piotr Kopacz of GMU’s Department of Navigation as well as second-year students Patrycja Boratyńska and Kacper Malinowski from the Department of Navigation, who presented papers on the topic of the conference in addition to successfully representing the University in sporting events.
During the two days prior to the start of the conference, Dr Przybyłowski, who is the Rector’s plenipotentiary to the Association of Maritime Universities, attended a meeting of the Association’s management board, which includes the Academic Affairs Committee chaired by our University. Research projects to be financed by the Nippon Foundation of Tokyo were chosen during the meeting.
GMU’s participation in the conference provided an excellent opportunity to maintain and expand the University’s network of international contacts. Among the topics discussed at the event were potential projects and initiatives on which the Universities could cooperate in the future. The next IAMU conference is scheduled to take place in October 2022 in Batumi, Georgia.
