Gdynia Maritime University and the Polish Navy Museum are planning to hold a joint conference on 22-23 August 2024 entitled: “War and the Sea - from the middle ages to modernity”. The main theme of the conference is the 80th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy.

The University will present the involvement of the merchant fleet in the invasion and Atlantic and Pacific convoys. The role of merchant vessels during wartime, despite being a topic that is little known, is worthy of attention.
