GMU Crews in Sailing Success in Olsztyn

In what was a fantastic start to the 2024 season, two teams of GMU yacht sailors put in an excellent performance in Omega class races as part of the Major of Olsztyn Cup.

The event, which took place in difficult weather conditions, took place over two days on 20-21 April on the Ukiel Lake near Olsztyn. Strong winds, rain and the bitter cold meant that only six of the nine races planned could go ahead.

-Competing as team Omega POL 654 were Dr Jędrzej Charłampowicz (KLIST), Bartosz Sadowski (Faculty of Marine Engineering) Kacper Gwóżdź (Faculty of Navigation), who came in first in the Omega Sport category. Team Omega POL 655 were Mateusz Grzempa (Faculty of Navigation), Wiktor Kreft (Faculty of Navigation), and Kinga Brzóska (Faculty of Management and Quality Science) took second place in the Omega Standard category.

The results obtained in Olsztyn will count towards the classification in the Omega Class of the Polish Sailing Cup. The excellent results of our teams are a favourable indication for the upcoming Polish Academic Championships to be held on the Niegocin Lake in Wilkasach.
