GMU Included in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2025
We are pleased to announce that Gdynia Maritime University has been included in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2025 (WUR 2025)
The University features in the rankings for the first time, placing 1501+ among 2,092 higher education institutions from 115 countries. The list includes 40 such institutions from Poland. A total of 2,860 centres of higher education around the world applied to be considered for a place in the 2025 rankings.
The methodology used in the creation of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, similar to other important world rankings, such as the Academic Ranking of World Universities (the Shanghai Ranking), and the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking, is one of the most complex and recognised. It includes 18 carefully calibrated indicators for the assessment of institutions in five key areas: education, research environment, research quality, cooperation with industry and international perspectives. For the current ranking, 157 million quotes and 18 million scientific publications were analysed, as well as the results of more than 93,000 surveys of researchers from around the world who evaluated academic reputation.
The detailed methodology for the assessment of academic centres enjoys the trust of students, teachers, academic staff, governments and industry experts around the world. Inclusion in the global ranking benefits Universities and other higher education institutions by enabling them to cooperate with renowned academic centres around the world, gain prestigious grants, and attract foreign scientists and students.
