GMU Representatives Take Part in 6th International Economic Forum

On 5-6 June 2024, GMU representatives took part in the 6th International Economic Forum in Chorzów. During the event, GMU staff contributed as panellists to a discussion on "Polish Innovation Potential". Their appearances met with a great deal of interest and recognition from forum participants. The University was represented by Professor/Captain Grzegorz Rutkowski of the Faculty of Navigation; Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba, the Director of the Technology Transfer Office; and Anna Żuławska, an innovation broker in the Technology Transfer Office.

The discussion as part of the "Polish Innovation Potential" panel was an excellent opportunity to present achievements on the international forum and to highlight the importance of synergies between the University and business. The exchange of experience, good practices, and active cooperation with the business sector was well received. Panellists from both the scientific and the economic sectors stressed the importance of supporting scientists from administrative units in the effective combination of science and business practice, which contributes to the implementation of joint projects, the development of innovative solutions and their implementation on the market. Panellists shared examples of successful cooperation between universities and companies. 

During the conference, the GMU team presented its catalogue of R&D services as well as a wide range of technology: 

  • An Innovative welded surfaces finishing method and the appropriate tool — Faculty of Marine Engineering 
  • Ship-wide electrical power quality monitoring system for electrical machines and equipment  — Faculty of Electrical Engineering 
  • Development of technology for manufacturing a new sandwich composite using recycled rubber material — Faculty of Mechanical Engineering 
  • New Char-Based Composite Material — Faculty of Marine Engineering 
  • Docking system for offshore installations — Faculty of Navigation 
  • Equipment for a Mobile Diving Sea Rescue Service Base (MoB MEDS) — Faculty of Navigation 
  • DYLLI App (Hurthub) — Faculty of Marine Engineering / Faculty of Management and Quality Science  

The involvement of our staff in this event will strengthen the position of GMU as one of the leaders in innovative research and cooperation with industry. The established contacts and exchange of experience will no doubt contribute to the further development of our research and education initiatives.
