GMU Researchers Again Named in World’s Top 2%

The list of the top 2 percent of the world's most influential researchers in 2024, according to the number of citations, has now been published. Once again, we are happy to report that several researchers from Gdynia Maritime University have been included in the newest list.

This prestigious ranking is produced by Stanford University scientists in cooperation with publisher Elsevier BV and the SciTech Strategies Inc.

In 2024, two rankings have been published, the first of which takes into account the scientific achievements of researchers from the beginning of their scientific career until the end of 2023 (including both active scientists and those who have already retired), and the second is based on scientific achievements in 2023 only.

The ranking for the World's Top 2% of Scientists in 2024, based on researchers’ entire academic output includes six scientists from Gdynia Maritime University:

  • Dr Agnieszka Lazarowska, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (currently in the Faculty of IT),
  • Professor Andrzej Stateczny, Faculty of Navigation,
  • Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
  • Professor Krzysztof Górecki, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
  • Professor Piotr Gnaciński, Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
  • Professor Janusz Zarębski, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

 

The ranking for the World's Top 2% of Researchers 2024, which takes into account only scientific achievements in 2023, included six scientists from Gdynia Maritime University:

  • Dr Agnieszka Lazarowska, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (currently in the Faculty of IT),
  • Dr Krzysztof Wróbel, Faculty of Navigation,
  • Dr Mariusz Specht, Faculty of Navigation,
  • Dr Mateusz Gil, Faculty of Navigation,
  • Professor Andrzej Stateczny, Faculty of Navigation,,
  • Professor Krzysztof Górecki, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

The ranking of the Top 2% of Scientists is compiled based on the scientific achievements of individual researchers according to the bibliometric index in Scopus. 

The ranking of more than 217,000 scientists from around the world, according to their entire scientific output, includes 1,244 researchers from Poland. In the ranking of scientific achievements in 2023, of more than 223,000 scientists from around the world, 1,305 Polish researchers are honoured.
