President of Poland Presents Professor Ireneusz Czarnowski with Nomination Act
In a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw on 6 November 2024, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, presented Professor Ireneusz Czarnowski with a nomination act for titular professorship.
The nomination for the academic title of Professor of Engineering and Technical Sciences in Technical Informatics and Telecommunications was granted by the President of Poland in a resolution dated 24 July 2023. Professor Krzysztof Czaplewski is the Director of the GMU Maritime Institute.

Professor Czarnowski is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science. He has been connected with Gdynia Maritime University since the 1990s. A graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Higher Maritime School in Gdynia, he began his academic career at the School as a research assistant.
In 2004 he received a doctorate in computer science from Poznań University of Technology and in 2012 a post-doctorate from Wrocław University of Technology, also in Computer Science.
He specialises in information technology and information systems. His research focuses on AI, machine learning, neural networks, Big data, data science, advanced data analysis, and evolutionary optimisation algorithms. His current H-Index score is 14.
He has previously held the post of Deputy Rector for Science and was involved in the process for the change of status which saw Gdynia Maritime Academy become Gdynia Maritime University.
