Retired Staff Gather for Annual Meeting
On 4 June 2024, the traditional annual meeting between the University’s authorities and retired staff was held at Gdynia Maritime University.
Taking part in the meeting were the Deputy Rector for Education, Professor Sambor Guze, the Chair of the GMU Staff Union, Dr Jacek Hałaczkiewicz, and the Chair of the NSZZ Solidarność, Mr Marek Lubowiecki.
The guests were welcomed on behalf of HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University by Professor Sambor Guze, who thanked them for attending and their service as previous employees of the University.
"Those joining us here for this meeting today dedicated their careers to the development and progression of the University [...] We are the continuers of your work".
Professor Sambor Guze summarised events from the life of the University during the past few months, including the development and opening of the GMU Sports and Recreation Centre on 23 May 2024, and the opening of the Centre for the Offshore Industry, the new headquarters of the Maritime Institute and the Offshore Wind Energy Centre on 29 February 2024.
Guest were also thanked for their presence by the Chair of NSZZ Solidarność, Mr Marek Lubowiecki, who wished them all the best of health and a quick return to the University for next year’s meeting.
The annual meeting was a chance for the retired staff to cacth up and reminisce among themselves and with the University’s authorities. The retired staff were gifted with small items of official GMU merchandise.
