University Alumni Honour Professor Daniel Duda
Professor Daniel Duda, GMU Rector during the years 1972-1981, was honoured by a group of graduates yesterday, 18th October, in recognition of his contribution to the development of the University.
During the annual meeting of alumni organised by Master Mariners Mark Rogalski and Anna Wypych-Namiotko, Professor Daniel Duda was presented with a copy of his biography and a portrait painted by a professional artist by his former students.
The meeting began with a minute's silence in remembrance of Master Mariner Ryszard Kucik, author of the Commanders of the Lwów exhibit, who died recently.
The group of graduates, now aged 30-35, met for the first time in the T Meissnera auditorium in the main University building. GMU Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, who was also in attendance, offered his congratulations, highlighting Professor Duda's unique status as a two-time honorary doctor. The rector emeritus was awarded the title by both the Polish Naval Academy and Gdynia Maritime University.
