Almost 400 Attend Third Pomeranian Researchers’ Night at GMU
On Friday, 26th September, Gdynia Maritime University scientists stepped away from their daily routines and ongoing research and opened the doors to their workplaces to show children, young people, and adults alike just how fascinating, exciting, and most importantly, accessible science truly is for everyone. Almost 400 people took part in the demonstrations, workshops, and lectures held at GMU as part of this year’s Pomeranian Researchers’ Night. These included:
- Ship Power Plant Simulator
- Escape Room
- Pyrolysis as an effective method in the utilisation of plastic waste
- Clean Sea Academy – Sea Freight
- Clean Sea Academy – Water Testing
- Clean Sea Academy – Degradation of Plastics
- Clean Sea Academy – Wastewater Treatment
- Clean Sea Academy – Maritime Accidents and Environmental Pollution
- How it’s made: Wind turbine blades – manufacturing technology and how they work. Recycling composite materials in Poland and around the world.
The most popular attractions of the night were the Ship Power Plant Simulator and the Escape Room.
Everyone who visited our University on this special science night received a small promotional gift and had the chance to take a souvenir photo in a photo booth on site, especially for the occasion.
We would like to thank all staff and students for their involvement in organising the event.
The event is run by the Medical University of Gdansk, and its partners are Gdansk University, Gdansk University of Technology, Gdynia Maritime University, the Polish Naval Academy, and two science centres: Experiment Science Centre in Gdynia and Hevelianum.
The NightMission project is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme.
