Call for Research Project proposals for All Academic Staff in FY2026

The International Association of Maritime Universities has announced the call for research proposals by the Academic Staff of member universities for the financial year 2026. Proposals should be submitted by 31 May 2025.

Taking the contents of the annual report prepared by the Liaison Committee into account, the working group on research projects established under the Academic Affairs Committee has selected the following 4 themes for research proposals in FY2026, which are for All Academic Staff at the IAMU member universities:

  • Theme 1- Maritime Education and Training in the era of AI
  • Theme 2- Disruptive innovations in shipping
  • Theme 3- The role of maritime transportation in strengthening the Blue Economy
  • Theme 4- Optional topic (related to IAMU goals and objectives as stated in the Basic Agreement)

Those who are interested in submitting a research proposal for one of the themes above should visit the IAMU website (https://www.iamu-edu.org) to download the application form.

Applications should include:

  • Descriptions of possible concepts
  • Desired goals for each theme
  • The maximum amount of budget allocated to each theme as shown in Annex 1(AAS)

The deadline for the submission of applications is 31 May 2025 at midnight (Japan Standard Time).

Applications must be sent by email with the subject “RP2026 Theme X” to the IAMU Secretariat (email below). Details of the application procedure are provided in annexes 2 and 3.
