4th Kotor International Maritime Conference
The 4th Kotor International Maritime Conference – KIMC 2024 was held from 27 to 29 November 2024. The Organiser of the Conference was the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor (University of Montenegro), together with the Municipality of Kotor and Port of Kotor as co-organisers.
The Conference opening also provided an occasion to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Faculty of Maritime Studies. In addition to Faculty and Montenegrin officials, introductory speeches were given by Professor Takeshi Nakazawa, executive director of IAMU, and Matej Zakonjšek, director of the Transport Community Permanent Secretariat.
The Conference gathered over 200 authors and co-authors from over 20 countries. Thematic sessions held on 28 and 29 November comprised over 70 research abstracts, with an additional 18 presented within the student section. Dr Piotr Kopacz, assistant professor in the Department of Navigation at the GMU Faculty of Navigation and Takeshi Nakazawa, the Executive Director of IAMU, were tasked with evaluating the student presentations and selecting the best ones. The winning presentations were awarded by an international jury composed of academics and industry professionals.
In addition to thematic sessions, the Conference included two panel discussions and a presentation of an e-simulator developed by professors and professionals from the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor and a private company dealing with AI and gaming.
