Faculty of Computer Science Opens Dean’s Office
On 25 September 2025, GMU’s newest faculty, the Faculty of Computer Science, held a ceremony for the opening of its Dean’s office. The office is located in building A on the University’s main campus. Taking part in the ceremony were representatives of University leadership, led by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, and the heads of the Faculty of Computer Science. Also taking part in the event were GMU Senators.
Guests in attendance at the ceremonial opening were welcomed by Professor Ireneusz Czarnowski, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science. Those present were also addressed by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, who stressed that it had a symbolic dimension and should be regarded as a positive sign for the further development of the Faculty, established in 2024.
The official part concluded with the guests proceeding to the building’s entrance, where a symbolic ribbon-cutting was carried out by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit; University Chancellor, Filip Malata; and the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Professor Ireneusz Czarnowski.
Following the speeches, guests had the opportunity to visit the new Dean’s office.
The Faculty of Computer Science was founded in June 2024 as Gdynia Maritime University’s fifth faculty, following a positive opinion of the University’s Senate. The first intake of students will begin studying at the Faculty in October 2025.
