GMU NeuroDays Conference a Big Success
The 1st 'Man, Medicine, Harmony – A Shared Journey: Mens sana in corpore sano', successfully took place on 11 October in Sopot. The Conference was organised by Gdynia Maritime University in collaboration with the Academia Europa Nostra association.
The Conference was part of the cyclical event Forum Europa Nostra, which was established in 2008 by the rector at the time, Professor Józef Lisowski. For years, the Forum has addressed important and current social, economic, and scientific issues; however, for the first time, it was devoted to health-related topics, focusing on the relationship between humans, medicine, and life balance.
On behalf of the University officials, the conference was formally opened by the Deputy-Rector for Science, Dr Dariusz Barbucha, while the Faculty of Management and Quality Science was represented by the Deputy-Dean for Education, Dr Przemysław Dmowski. The presentations delivered by GMU staff members Dr Aneta Ocieczek, Dr Katarzyna Mironiuk, and Dr Tomasz Studzieniecki attracted a great deal of interest from participants. Their lectures focused on the concept of neuro-nutrition, the slow life philosophy, and the role of water in human life. The talks were followed by a lively discussion, during which the speakers received numerous questions about the practical aspects of the topics presented.
The event was also attended by Marta Chełkowska, Director of the Department of Tourism and Sport at the Pomeranian Voivodeship Marshal's Office, who congratulated the organisers on the initiative and presented the regional government's activities linking issues of health and travel, emphasising the importance of cooperation between science and public administration in this area.
One of the event's attractions were workshops led by doctors and therapists, which discussed new diagnostic and therapeutic methods used in neurotherapy and rehabilitation.
The initiator of the conference, Dr Tomasz Studzieniecki, a member of staff in the Department of Marketing Quantitative Methods, underlined his satisfaction with the deepening relations between the University and stakeholders as well as the demonstration of Gdynia Maritime University's potential to take on new scientific, social, and organisational challenges.
According to Dr Małgorzata Świerkocka, the conference themes will be continued in future editions, and the conclusions drawn from this year's discussions will find practical application in activities related to health prevention and social education.
The Conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Mayor of Sopot and the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University. The event was also supported in the media by the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Association and Radio Gdańsk.
