Representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Higher Education Institutions Visit GMU
From 26th to 27th October 2022, Gdynia Maritime University hosted a delegation from Turkey, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and staff of higher education institutions such as the Technical University of Istanbul, Dokuz Eylül University, Piri Reis University, and Karadeniz Technical University.
Welcoming the visitors were HM Rector Professor Adam Weintrit and Deputy Rector for Education and Development Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk.
The aim of the visit was to familiarise the Turkish delegation with the requirements of the STCW Convention concerning the training of crew onboard ships, whilst allowing them to get to know GMU and the nature of education provided to undergraduate and postgraduate students and doctoral candidates, and establish cooperation with the University. The visitors toured three of the Faculties - Navigation, Electrical Engineering and Marine Engineering, where they were shown the laboratories and training simulators.
