Information on processing of personal data in connection with the organisation of scientific conferences or events popularising science

The Controller of your personal data is Gdynia Maritime University (ul. Morska 81-87, Gdynia)|. The Data Controller has designated a Data Protection Inspector (email: iod [at] umg.edu.pl).

Your personal data is processed on the basis of article 6 (1) (a), (c) and (e) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data (GDPR), in order to fulfil the legal obligations of the University and carry out tasks carried out in the public interest concerning the taking up of scientific activity, the shaping of civil attitudes, as well as participation in social development and the creation of an economy based on innovation, in particular those outlined in the current regulations governing the functioning of the higher education and science system.

Gdynia Maritime University also processes the personal data of participants in conferences or events in order to enable participants to take part, document proceedings, contact participants in connection with the event and provide services during the conference or event.

In certain cases, data shall be processed on the basis of consent (telephone number/email address) in order to establish or facilitate contact and inform of similar actions to be taken in the future. Consent for processing - if it is the basis for processing your data - may be withdrawn at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the legality of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

The sole recipients of your personal data are the entities authorised to have access to it in accordance with the rules and the scope provided for by the relevant laws or other relevant provisions.

Providing your personal data is voluntary. However, should you refuse to provide your personal data, you will not be permitted to participate in the Conference. Your personal data falls under the category of ordinary personal data. This data will not be processed by automated means or subject to profiling.

Your personal data will be stored for the period provided for in current legislation, which is the same as the period for which the financial and accounting records of the conference are stored by Gdynia Maritime University. If you agree to receive information on conferences or events promoting science, your personal data will be processed until your consent is withdrawn.

You have the right to access and amend your personal data. The right to request the deletion of your data, restrict the processing of data and to object to such processing may be restricted by reason of the provisions of the GDPR and other provisions which require the University to store certain data for a defined period of time.

You are entitled to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Warsaw if the processing of your personal data violates applicable laws.
