University Hosts 7th Student Scientific Societies Seminar

The 7th Scientific Seminar was officially opened by the Deputy-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Associate Professor Dr Sambor Guze, together with the Chair of the Student Scientific Societies Council, Wiktoria Dumińska. The event was hosted by Kacper Wałdoch from the Cargo Student Scientific Society and Klaudia Klein from the Transport Engineering Student Scientific Society.

The opening ceremony was followed by the first poster session, after which participants attended a series of oral presentations. The speakers and their topics were:

• Maciej Słowiński – Analysis of Alternative Environmentally Friendly Ship Propulsion Systems Inspired by Sailing Vessels
• Jakub Przybylski and Krystian Okaz – Interior Lighting Design for Rural Retail Parks: A Case Study of k€m Dzierżążno
• Olimpia Łebkowska and Anna Bielawa – FOMO-Based Marketing: Between Effectiveness and Manipulation

After the presentations, participants were invited to a coffee break before returning for the second series of presentations. These were delivered by:

• Tadeusz Kazimierz Lorkowski and Jarosław Nazaruk – Surface Illuminance and Visible Spectrum Analyser
• Julia Jaskólska – Verification of the Operating Parameters of the ZWPS-25 LG90 NAP4 Centrifugal Fan Intended for a Ship Ventilation Fan Test Rig
• Oskar Pasieka – The Use of Alternative Propulsion Sources on Merchant Ships to Meet Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulations
• Wiktor Miszk – Analysis of the Properties of Natural and Mineral Sorbents for Oil Spill Response

The programme continued with the second poster session. Following the session, the judging panel, comprising:

• Dr Aleksandra Wawrzyńska (Faculty of Navigation),
• Dr Daria Żuk (Faculty of Marine Engineering),
• Dr Joanna Patrzyk (Faculty of Electrical Engineering),
• Dr Tomasz Owczarek (Faculty of Computer Science), and
• Professor Piotr Przybyłowski (Faculty of Management and Quality Science),

withdrew for deliberations before the official closing ceremony.

• Julia Jaskólska for Verification of the Operating Parameters of the ZWPS-25 LG90 NAP4 Centrifugal Fan Intended for a Ship Ventilation Fan Test Rig;
• Tadeusz Kazimierz Lorkowski, Jarosław Nazaruk, and Krystian Okaz for Surface Illuminance and Visible Spectrum Analyser;
• Maciej Słowiński for Analysis of Alternative Environmentally Friendly Ship Propulsion Systems Inspired by Sailing Vessels.

Awards for the best posters were presented to:

• Kazimierz Doms and Weronika Królek for Sensory Evaluation of Corn Extrudates Enriched with Beetroot Powder;
• Igor Pioch and Kamil Szok for The Use of Basalt Fabrics as an Alternative to Glass Fibre Fabrics in Composite Structures;
• Jakub Gerwatowski for Data Fusion and the Interpretation of Thermal Imaging in Practice.

The seminar concluded with closing remarks from the Chair of the Student Scientific Societies Council, Wiktoria Dumińska, who thanked the judging panel as well as the Council delegates Maciej Czarnecki, Zuzanna Lis, Kacper Wałdoch, Klaudia Klein, and Filip Nowakowski for their assistance in organising the event.
