School of Physical Education and Sport
The Physical Education and Sports Centre is an interfaculty unit that provides classes across all university departments. The most important part of the Centre's physical education programme is swimming instruction, aimed at improving the swimming skills of future seafarers. Graduates are required to demonstrate proficiency in four swimming strokes and pass a practical assessment.
Students who wish to take care of their physical fitness can also take part in other classes the Centre provides:
- volleyball (men's and women's)
- basketball (men's and women's)
- football
- handball
- sailing
- swimming (men's and women's)
- powerlifting
- martial arts
Students who participate in sports sections and win medals at the Polish Championships are eligible for a sports scholarship, while outstanding athletes may receive a Minister of Science and Higher Education scholarship. The Centre also organises a ski training camp during the winter holiday break.
