Accessibility Statement

This is the accessibility statement for the website of Gdynia Maritime University, www.umg.edu.pl.

Accessibility to the content of a website is attained when all users have full access to its content, can understand the content, and can navigate the website logically and intuitively.

Gdynia Maritime University endeavours to ensure the availability of its website www.umg.edu.pl/en, in accordance with the Accessibility to Web Content and Mobile Applications of Public Entities of 4 April 2019 (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 848) and Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1523 of 11 October 2018 establishing a model accessibility statement under Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and the Council on the availability of web pages and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

All the abovementioned web pages largely but not entirely meet the requirements of the Act on Accessibility to Web Content and Mobile Applications of Public Entities (Annexe to the Act of 4 April 2019, item 848) due to the following non-compliances or omissions:
- films do not have extended subtitles
- videos do not have audio description

Importantly, in relation to all information that does not meet the requirements of the WCAG at AA level, alternative access is provided through the use of a sign language translator (online)

  • Work is ongoing to continually remove any barriers to accessibility found on the website.
  • Information for disabled users
  • Users may get help from a sign language interpreter
  • Users can increase the size of text on the websites or adjust the contrast
  • Users can navigate the website using a keyboard only by pressing the TAB key.
  • Links - including those leading to external websites - are, in the majority of cases, opened in the same window. Thanks to this, users maintain complete control over their browsers.
  • An appropriate contrast of text to the background has been ensured. Thanks to this, materials embedded on the website are also easy to read for the visually impaired.
  • We endeavour to ensure that all written materials posted on our websites are written clearly and formatted in accordance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  • Photos and graphics included on the website have properly defined alternative descriptions so that their content can be understood by the blind and those whose devices do not display graphics.  
  • No element of the website, including movements, animations, and banners, flashes at a rate faster than 3 times per second.
