GMU Leaders Discuss Future Cooperation with Deputy Mayor of Gdynia
Gdynia Maritime University has for many years conducted joint projects with the local authorities in Gdynia. On 23 October 2025, a GMU delegation headed by The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, met with Oktawia Gorzeńska, Deputy Mayor of Gdynia, to discuss areas for future cooperation.
Taking part in the meeting from GMU were also Dr Sambor Guze, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, Deputy Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Development. Joining the Deputy Mayor in representing the city of Gdynia was Maurycy Rzeźniczak, Deputy Head of Gdynia City Hall’s Department of Energy.
Among the topics discussed were the establishment of a Competence Development Centre for the Energy Sector in Gdynia, as well as the creation of a Mathematics League for Gdynia’s schools aimed at supporting the development of young talents.
In April this year, the City of Gdynia and the University signed a cooperation agreement in relation to urban mobility, transport, and logistics. The agreement includes joint initiatives by both Parties in the areas of sustainable development, urban mobility, transport, and logistics.
