HM The Rector Meets with Mayor of Gdynia
On 22 October 2025, HM The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, met with the Mayor of Gdynia, Aleksandra Kosiorek. The meeting concerned the organisation of celebrations for the centenary of Gdynia.
Also representing Gdynia Maritime University at the meeting was the Chancellor, Filip Malata. Among the proposed forms of cooperation in connection with the celebrations of Gdynia’s 100th anniversary was the idea of promoting the jubilee by hanging a sail sewn especially for the occasion on board the Dar Młodzieży.
The first meeting of the Honorary Committee for the 100th Anniversary of Gdynia took place in April 2025. The Committee’s work involves representatives from the worlds of business, culture, academia, as well as members of parliament, diplomats, and local government officials. On behalf of the University, invitations to join the Committee were extended to the Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, and Małgorzata Sokołowska, long-time editor-in-chief of the University’s Maritime Newsletter.
