Rector Takes Part in Sitting of Polish Polar Consortium Council
At the Polar Research Museum in Puławy, a sitting of the Council of the Polar Research Consortium took place on 4 November. The consortium is a collaborative alliance between Polish scientific institutions involved in research in polar regions. In attendance at the meeting was HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit.
The Council's session included a review of initiatives and activities carried out by the Consortium during the year.
Discussions also covered new regulations on monitoring at the Polish Polar Station in Hornsund, Poland’s involvement in the Fifth International Polar Year, and progress on the Polish Polar Programme.
The consortium comprises 11 centres of higher education and 5 research institutes. Its tasks include developing long-term directions for polar research in Poland, securing funding for scientific initiatives, and supporting initiatives improving the international reach of Polish research, as well as initiatives securing funding for and by early-career polar scientists.
