GMU Young Scientists

For the first time in the history of Gdynia Maritime University, four of our staff members were awarded a prestigious Ministry of Education and Science Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists as part of the 17th edition of the competition.

In 2022, Agnieszka Lazarowska, DSc(Eng); Paweł Dąbrowski, PhD(Eng); Mariusz Specht, PhD(Eng); and Paweł Górecki, DSc(Eng), were named among 215 young scientists from around Poland to be awarded a scholarship.

Łukasz Janowski, PhD joined this prestigious group when he was among 230 young scientists awarded scholarships by the Minister of Education and Science in the edition of the competition in June 2023.

In a series of brief interviews with the award-winning members of GMU staff, conducted by Anna Błażejewska (A.B.) from the Department of Science, they reveal their research interests, road to success, as well as their interests beyond science.

In 2025, another member staff at Gdynia Maritime University, Mateusz Gil, PhD(Eng) - an assistant professor in the Department of Navigation at the Faculty of Navigation, was awarded funding from the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) to conduct the prestigious project entitled “Maritime system for interactive navigation and collision avoidance for autonomous ships - MARINERS”.
