Faculties

 

Faculty of Electrical Engineering

The Faculty offers four modern and dynamic engineering degree programmes. These are: 

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics and Telecommunications
  • Information Technology
  • Communication and Information Systems

Drawing on decades of know-how and tradition, the Faculty of Engineering trains future specialists to work at sea as shipboard electro-automation officers or marine radio-electronics officers. In response to the needs of the labour market, we also offer degrees in land-based electrical engineering specialisations.

 

Faculty of Marine Engineering

The Faculty offers degrees in four Mechanical Engineering specialisations:

  • Operation of Marine Power Plants and Ocean Vessels
  • Ship and Port Equipment Overhaul Technology
  • Operational Engineering
  • Production Engineering

Graduates of the maritime specialisation Operation of Ship Propulsion Plant and Offshore Construction Operation are recruited by shipping companies worldwide and are highly valued for their professional skills. Training provided in accordance with the standards set out in the STCW 78/95 Convention, graduates of the programme can enjoy a fast track to career advancement.

The Faculty also offers degree programmes in the field of Technical Systems Operation and Diagnostics, including:

  • Technical Equipment Diagnostics
  • Wind Farm Exploitation Management

Those who want to build their career in the offshore wind sector can apply to study on the Offshore Wind Energy programme. Graduates of this Master’s programme will be well prepared to work in companies within the wind energy sector, at offshore wind technical and diagnostic support facilities, in maritime transport related to offshore operations, as well as in local government units and research and development centres focusing on renewable energy. They will also be qualified to work at energy companies, particularly those involved in processing, distribution, and integration of energy from wind farms and other renewable sources.

 

Faculty of Navigation

The Faculty of Navigation offers the following degrees in the field of Navigation:

  • Maritime Transport
  • Offshore Technology
  • Shipping Safety Management
  • Polish Economic Zone Administration
  • Oil Tanker Operations
  • Maritime Information Systems
  • Hydrographic Measurements and Navigation Marking

The Faculty also offers the following degrees in the field of Transport:

  • Transport and Logistics
  • Offshore Industry Logistics
  • Maritime Transport Systems and Logistics
  • Management of Inland Transport Means and Infrastructure
  • Transport and Logistics Systems Operations

The Maritime Transport degree programme aims to produce outstanding specialists in ship operation and shipping. Graduates will be awarded a Master’s degree in Marine Navigation Engineering [magister inżynier nawigatora morskiego]. After completing the required training, graduates also obtain an officer’s diploma and the qualifications needed to take on officer and managerial duties in the deck department on board ships.

 

Faculty of Management and Quality Science

“Into the modern times with tradition” – this motto reflects the almost fifty-year experience of the Faculty and its policy, which takes into account the needs of the innovative economy. The Faculty of Management and Quality Science educates students for onshore jobs in the maritime economy and regional institutions. The Faculty offers bachelor’s (first-cycle) and master’s (second-cycle) studies in two academic fields: 

  • Quality Engineering
  • Management

The Faculty also offers a range of postgraduate diplomas, as well as doctoral degrees.

Since 1998, the Faculty has had the right to grant doctoral degrees in Economic Sciences in the field of Commodity Science. Following a decision by the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles in December 2012, the Faculty has held full academic rights to award post-doctoral degrees in Economic Sciences, within the discipline of Commodity Science.

 

Faculty of Computer Science

The Faculty of Computer Science at Gdynia Maritime University was established in 2024. Details of the degree programmes to be offered by the new faculty will be published in the spring of 2025.
