In 2016, Gdynia Maritime Academy was honoured by the Association of Polish Maritime Industries with the "Innovations in maritime" in the category of "Innovative Enterprise" for its work in the development of an educational and organisational framework for the newly-founded Academy of Fisheries and Marine Science in Angola, including academic teaching programmes and laboratory research.
