GMU Crew in First Race for Health

The first in a series of “Pink Regattas” [Różowe Regaty], a race-for-health project especially aimed at women, took place on Saturday 28th August on the Brodno Górne lake in Złota Góra in the Kashubian Landscape Park.

8 teams entered the races, including, of course, a crew representing Gdynia Maritime University. Sadly, the lack of wind on the day meant that only three of the planned five races went ahead. Our team came in a respectable fourth overall. But the event, part of a wider initiative promoting cancer prevention, mental health and physical activity among women, had a greater purpose than winning. A purpose that through the involvement of a GMU team in the regatta we have shown we are proud to support.

Gdynia Maritime University was represented by: helmsman - Piotr Nowakowski - a graduate of the Faculty of Navigation and instructor at the Sailing and Water Sports Centre, Paulina Mrozik - student in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Aleksander Grono - student in the Faculty of Navigation.
