Polish Sailing Cup Omega Class Success

Another round of races came to a close yesterday in the Omega Class of the Polish Sailing Cup. This time, the competition took place in Zbaszyn in Greater Poland on 16th - 19th September, with more than 50 yachts taking part in two categories; Sport and Standard. GMU student in the Faculty of Marine Engineering Bartosz Sadowski was part of a crew that competed in the Sport category, and Jędrzej Charłampowicz, a staff member in the Department of Logistics and Transport systems, captained a crew in the Standard category.

The low winds during the three days on the water were enough for nine races to go ahead, in which both representatives of the University did very well.

The crew including Bartosz Sadowski were surprise runners up overall in the Sport Category, whilst in the Standard category, the crew lead by Jędrzej Charłampowicz were engaged in close competition right until the end, placing 4th overall, and narrowly missing out on a medal.

All in all, successful performances in the Polish Sailing Cup once again - especially since the University doesn’t currently own Omega class yachts, which were hired for the occasion.
