11th International Conference on The Role of Commodity Science in Quality Management within a Knowledge-Based Economy

On 7th September,  the 11th International Conference on "The Role of Commodity Science in Quality Management within a Knowledge-Based Economy" was held in the University's main T.Meissner auditorium. The event was organised by the Faculty of Management and Quality Science, under The patronage of GMU Rector Professor  Adam Weintrit.

The topic of this year's conference was sustainable development in product and service quality management. The conference was attended by more than 100 representatives of the most prominent commodity science centres in the country.

Participants were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Quality Science, Dr  Aleksandra Wilczyńska,  before being opened by HM Rector Professor  Adam Weintrit.

The conference lasted three days, covering the following topics:

  • the role of innovation in shaping the quality of products and services,
  • commodity science aspects of product and brand management,
  • the significance of CSR to innovative enterprises,
  • safety and the development of food quality,
  • ecological and environmental aspects of commodity science as a quality science,
  • normalisation and integration and management systems in practice,
  • social and economic aspects of the management of organisations.

Among those attending were representatives of such centres of higher education as  Krakow University of Economics, Poznań University of Economics, the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, the Poznań School of Logistics, Gdańsk Medical University, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, and the Karpacka State University in Krosno, among others.

The organisers of the conference aimed for the event to provide an opportunity for the unfettered exchange of scientific experience and create ample opportunities for scientific development by allowing participants to make contacts with representatives of other research centres and provide mutual inspiration.

The conference programme included plenary, paper presentation, and poster sessions, a young scientists' session and a debate on the future of commodity science in Management and Quality Sciences.

The conference was held under the honorary patronage of  HM Rector of Gdynia Maritime University Professor  Adam Weintrit, the Marshall of the Pomerania Region Mieczysław Struk, the Governor of Pomerania Dariusz Drelich and the Mayor of Gdynia Dr Wojciech Szczurek.
The event was also organised under the patronage of the Polish Association of Commodity Science and the Polish Association of Food Technology. Funding was provided by the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the  Doskonała Nauka project. Sponsoring this year's event is: Labindex, Graal, SeraBIO and the Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia.
