The investment will be carried out on the University’s main campus on the site of the previous sports hall, which was demolished in 2020. Due to the poor technical condition and high maintenance costs of the facility, upgrading the hall proved too costly and was not recommended.
University Bursar, Filip Mata informed that the site of the new sports centre will be handed over to the contractor on 5th August 2022. Before the end of 2022, work will be carried out on preparation, surveying, groundwork, construction, and installation. The complex will open in the second quarter of 2024. The total cost of the investment, including the equipment, is around 55 million PLN, and is financed by the University’s own capital as well as the national budget in the shape of a targeted subsidy from the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The University also plans to build a new hall of student residence also on its main campus. The new accommodation will be constructed alongside to the sports centre as the second stage of the investment.
