Documentary for IM Partner Project Released Online

Gdynia Maritime University Maritime Institute is pleased to announce the release of a promotional documentary as part of the eCUDO - Electronic Centre for the Availability of Oceanographic Data - project to which the Institute is a partner. The documentary was produced by the project leader, the Polish Oceanography Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, with the help of the project partners.

The eCUDO.pl project aims to unlock the potential of oceanographic data collected during monitoring and research carried out by the partners, by cataloguing it and making it available in a coherently organised database. The integration and centralisation of the data will replace the current solution, which requires users to search separate information systems or request bespoke expert analyses.

The Director of the Maritime Institute,  Dr Maciej Matczak, is keen to stress the effective synergy of research and science brought about by the project. The Electronic Centre for the Availability of Oceanographic Data eCUDO.pl is a very interesting example of the scientific activity carried out by the Institute, which combines professional oceanographic knowledge with modern information technology.

The GMU Maritime Institute has two teams involved in the project. The first is a team of GIS specialists responsible for the preparation of archived data to be made available on the shape of the seafloor as well as magnetic field values. They are joined by an IT team tasked with the creation of a central system that will enable oceanographic data contained in the federated database system to be searched and viewed.

The eCUDO.pl project is co-financed by EU grants under the Operational Programme “Digital Poland” - priority access II, e-administration, number POPC.02.03.01-00-0062/18-00.
