GMU Scientists Nominated in “Eureka! DGP - Discover Polish Inventions” Competition

A team from the Fundamentals of Technology Department,  headed by Dr Olha Dvirna, Anna Lesnau MSc(Eng) and Krzysztof Kliciński - a Mechanics and Machine Construction student, have been nominated as part of the 9th “Eureka! DGP - Discovering Polish Inventions” competition.

The nomination is for the team’s solution entitled "An Innovative Welded Surfaces Finishing Method” developed based on Microgrants as part of the Innovation Incubator 4.0 project. As part of the project, the team’s work received grants for pre-implementation work aimed at adapting their invention to the needs of interested parties and gaining patent protection, including at the European Patent Office. The supervisor of the nominated solution is Anna Baczewska, an innovation broker in the Intellectual Property and Research Commercialisation team.

The competition is organised by the “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” newspaper, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science with aim of presenting inventions of interest to the national economy to the newspaper’s readers. This activity primarily supports the promotion of university inventions and the search for companies willing to cooperate in the adaptation of the chosen solutions.

Inventions for the 9th edition of the competition were submitted by Polish universities, research institutes and scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize to conduct further scientific activity as well as an advertising campaign. The award ceremony will take place at the end of June and a summary will be published in the “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” magazine.
