GMU Wins University of Leaders Competition 2022
Gdynia Maritime University has been announced the winner of the 12th edition of the "University of Leaders" competition. The Closing Gala, during which certificates and rewards were presented, was held on 29th June 2022 at the Nowy Świat Banking and Financial Centre in Warsaw.
The "University of Leaders" competition has been held annually since 2011 to accredit Higher Education Institutions and their units that are focused on educating social leaders and leaders in specific professional groups, providing effective practical education for students, and educating graduates with advanced competencies who are attractive to the labour market.
In 2021, the "University of Leaders" certificate was awarded to GMU's Faculty of Navigation. This year, Gdynia Maritime University - including all faculties and educational units - has been nominated as a whole.
Following the analysis and assessment of GMU's application as submitted by HM Rector Professor Adam Weintrit, the Competition Committee, composed of Professor Dariusz Rott (University of Silesia), Professor Tadeusz Wawak (Jagiellonian University), Professor Anna Adamus-Matuszyńska (University of Economics Katowice), Professor Jan Fazlagić (University of Economics Poznan), Professor Michał Kaczmarczyk (Humanitas Higher School), Grażyna Kaczmarczyk (Foundation for the Development of Education and Higher Education) and Halina Przeniosło (Foundation for the Development of Education and Higher Education), awarded Gdynia Maritime University the "University of Leaders 2022" certificate. The award of the certificate by the Competition Committee is tantamount to a positive result in the education assessment procedure.
GMU's Competition Application was evaluated by the Members of the Certification Committee based on a self-assessment report (questionnaire) completed by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation in cooperation with the Office of Promotion and Communication and the Education Department, as well as data from higher education monitoring and supervision institutions and labour market monitoring organisations.
Certificates and rewards were presented to the chosen academic institutions on 29th June 2022 at the Nowy Świat Banking and Financial Centre in Warsaw. Gdynia Maritime University was represented by Deputy Rector for Education, Dr Sambor Guze, and the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation, Dr Tomasz Neumann.
Also presented during the ceremony was the "Aurea Praxis" distinction, awarded to HM Rector of Gdynia Maritime University Professor Adam Weintrit. The title is awarded to rectors of certified administrative entities for their personal involvement in the development and promotion of the institutions they run.
The "University of Leaders 2022" is important information for high school graduates deciding where to continue their education. It is also of importance in the promotion of our University.
The certificate and associated emblem can be used for information practice and promotional and marketing purposes for the next 12 months.
