"Open Day (Not Only) for Girls" Held at GMU

Thursday 7th April was an Open Day at GMU, aimed mainly at female high school graduates as part of the 15th national "Open Day (not only) for Girls".

The event gave final year pupils the chance to meet the GMU teaching staff and some of our female students, and was organised by the Promotions and Communications Office as part of the Perspektywy Education Foundation's "Dziewczyny na Politechniki!" [Girls for Universities of Technology] Programme and a Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities project.

Those who registered to attend were treated to lectures and presentations, not only by University staff but also by the students.

Dr Monika Szyda of the Management and Economy Section in the Faculty of Management and Quality Science gave a lecture entitled "Cultural Differences and Corporate Websites", whereas Dr Aleksandra Grobelna and Dr Ewa Wyszkowska of the Marketing and Quantitative Research Section in the Faculty of Management and Quality Science spoke on the topic of "Tourism from a Female Perspective". The final presentation of the day was given by Natalia Winiarska, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Navigation and the Chair of the Council of Scientific Circles at GMU, who described the "Maritime University from a Female Student Perspective".

Following the official part of the Open Day, there was a chance to talk directly to the lecturers and students, ask questions, and gather information material on the courses of study offered at Gdynia Maritime University.
