Space Shows this Weekend at Faculty of Navigation

The A. Ledóchowski planetarium invites you to attend a free space show this coming weekend of 18th-19th June, in celebration of Maritime Day.

This year’s Maritime Day celebrations would be incomplete without an exciting show of cosmic proportions at Gdynia Maritime University’s planetarium in the Faculty of Navigation.

Those interested are invited to attend a free 30-minute show on Saturday or Sunday between 10 am and 2 pm. A maximum of 30 people can enter for each show.

During the week, the planetarium is normally where students at the Faculty of Navigation meet with lecturers for practical exercises and lectures in astronavigation. Under an 8-foot dome, the projection room houses more than 40 spherical sky projectors, 6 great circles, the sun, the moon, the planets, the Milky Way, the Zodiac signs, the ecliptic, and the Aries point.

You can see 4,850 stars from 38 constellations, as well as satellite traffic in any orbit. The planetarium allows viewers to see an actual picture of the cosmos from any point in the northern hemisphere.

The weekend’s viewings will be hosted by the Faculty of Navigation associated student circle “Navigator”.

To enter, please collect a free invitation from reception in the Faculty of Navigation on John Paul II Street during the hours below:

  • Tuesday 14.06, Wednesday 15.06, Friday 17.06 from 9:00 to 18:00
  • Saturday 18.06, Sunday 19.06 from 9:00 to 13:30

Admittance to the Planetarium is via the entrance opposite the Marina.
